Heat Rumors: Miami reached out to Thabo Sefolosha

The Miami Heat are in a situation in which they need to re-sign the Big 3 but before they can do that they need to make sure they have a solid roster put together so that coming back to South Beach is something LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh actually want to do.

Miami doesn’t have a lot of money to spend on the open market but that doesn’t mean they can’t get solid role oplayers to come to South Beach to help out.

According to NBA insider Shams Charmania, the Miami Heat have reached out to Thabo Sefolosha with interest in possibly signing him.

Sefolosha also is getting interest from the Washington Wizards which could raise his price for the Heat but the interest from Miami could similarly raise the price for the Wizard. When it comes down to the two teams though, Miami seems like it might be a better fit for Sefolosha as he’s the type of role player that can come cheap enough for the Heat to afford.

Miami isn’t really jumping through hoops to sign free agents at the moment and adding someone in the first week of being able to do so might not happen but Sefolosha won’t be flying off the market and interest from the Heat might cause him to wait things out for a bit.

So basically the heat are calling all free agents to convince them to sign on the cheap. Does not look like Riley’s oily hair will work this time. He’s been uncovered as a used car salesman.

Glad to see there is at least a rumor. There may be rumors without reality, but there is rarely reality without rumors. Sefolosha was my first pick as a 3 & D guy on the cheap for next year.

Granted that was when Gortat and Lowry were on the table…. Dunno if they’re willing to make a realistic offer on Ariza or Deng since they are at least partially redundant with James. Does that make Gasol the best free agent on the market for the Heat?

Riley’s arrogance may lose him Lebron! You don’t just call or reach out to players you really want on your team! You get on a plane and talk face to face! Time is ticking and all the best options are signing else where on the meantime!
