Sometimes things can get wild during the NBA Free Agency period, and with that being said, everything is put under a microscope. Such has been the case on Wednesday with the Houston Rockets’ use of the no. 7 jersey to court Carmelo Anthony, which at the moment, belongs to current point guard Jeremy Lin.

More from Houston Rockets

Throughout the day it’s been reported that Lin was very upset at the fact they used his number for the image while he’s still a member of the organization. Of course, and especially given the history between he and Anthony from their time together in New York, you could understand that.

Well the plot has thickened even further as just moments after Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski was informed that the team had told Lin they would be using the jersey, Lin’s agent immediately shot that down by stating that Lin had in fact not been told.

The fact remains that, should Melo ultimately choose to head to Houston to play for the Rockets, it’s not going to matter because Lin will more than likely be dealt.

But for the time being, that’s not the point, I suppose.
