The Orlando Magic have been rather quiet on the NBA free agency front so far but they have apparently gotten into the game on the second day of being able to do so.

After putting together a so-so draft and then cutting loose Jameer Nelson following the trading of Arron Afflalo, the Magic have gone ahead and agreed to terms with free agent shooting guard Ben Gordon.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports, the deal Gordon will be signing later in the week will be worth two years and pay him $9 million.
This wasn’t at a ll a splashy free agent signing for the Magic as Gordon could have been had ever since he was bought out by the Bobcats back in the winter and never latched on anywhere after that.
For what it’s worth, the Bobcats then went on to make the postseason without Gordon, but the magic are more focused on him possible regaining his shooting ability than what he did or didn’t do in Charlotte.
Either way, the Magic need shooting badly and failed to acquire such a thing in the draft. They have Victor Oladipo as their starting shooting guard which means Gordon will be taking on a mentoring role for the young rookie as well as coming off the bench for Orlando for as long as he lasts there.
