Things have been quiet on the LeBron James free agency front, but Chris Broussard of ESPN.com reveals to all that James’ agent in Rich Paul recently met with the Phoenix Suns owner in Cleveland.

Meeting in Cleveland is a good sign (any meeting is a good sign) but things will really be interesting if James books a Phoenix hotel and meets with the Suns owners on their home turf.

In the past, Phoenix would’ve never been an option for a player of James’ caliber, but times have changed and the franchise has a lot to offer the four-time MVP. Between the coaching, the star power (Bledsoe, Dragic), the available salary cap (presents the ability to play alongside another top tier star), Phoenix presents an interesting situation as James looks to continue competing for championships. Everything Miami lacked last season, the Suns possess. It’s a young team with a nice offensive system, has an abundance of depth, and a training staff that’ll keep James healthy for the remainder of his career.

Of course, this would mean James is leaving his comfort zone behind. James has made it known that he loves the city of Miami and loves playing with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. After four years of title contention, it could be hard to walk away from what once was, but Miami may not be the place to be for LeBron going forward.

For all we know, this could be a huge charade with James putting pressure on Pat Riley to make something work in Miami. Whatever James’ intentions are, he’s making free agency a more interesting spectacle than it was the previous year.
