It appears as if a new favorite has emerged as the favorite to land the services of Jordan Farmar, and should the deal end up going through, he won’t have to pack his backs because it’s the Los Angeles Clippers that have emerged as the new front runner to signing the veteran guard.

Just earlier in the day on Wednesday, the Clippers lost backup point guard Darren Collison, who ended up signing a new deal with the Sacramento Kings. Once the news of Collison’s signing broke, that must have been the point that the team really put it into overdrive for getting Farmar.

More from Los Angeles Clippers

Last season during the Lakers’ abysmal campaign without Kobe Bryant, Farmar was one of the bright spots for the organization, averaging 10.1 points and 4.9 assists per game. The Lakers have expressed some interest in bringing Farmar back, but the Clippers’ interest in bringing him in could be a bit more serious.

As far as a fit with the Clippers, Farmar would provide tremendous support for starting point guard, and perennial All-Star, Chris Paul, as the team looks to take the next step in the NBA Playoffs.
