Carmelo Anthony is set to have one of his final meetings on Thursday with the Los Angeles Lakers, and earlier reports in the day indicated that Kobe Bryant would be a part of the meeting, having cut his vacation time short just to be in attendance.

However, the meeting with Carmelo was pushed up, and now because of that, as Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting, Bryant will in fact not be able to make it on time to pitch Anthony to head out west to chase some championships with him.

Whether this is a good or bad thing, we don’t know. And yes, believe it or not, there are some that feel Bryant being absent from the meeting is a good thing.

Desperate to get back to the top of the mountain after their abysmal season last year, a season which Bryant missed most of due to injury, the Lakers are hot on the trail of not just Anthony, but also LeBron James.

The meeting with Anthony on Thursday will be the first big one the team has as they try to get some help for Bryant. After this meeting, Melo will meet with the New York Knicks, which should round out the recruiting tour.
