The NBA free agency craze is taking team by storm as just about everyone is the league is flying around the country in an effort to make sure they give their pitches to the right players in an effort to get them to sign and help out next season.

More from Chicago Bulls

One of those teams are the Chicago Bulls and the player they are coveting is Carmelo Anthony but he’s not the only one they seem to be after.

According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com, it’s not just Carmelo Anthony who is getting the red carpet treatment in free agency as Pau Gasol is as well, in a way. Stein reports that when the Bulls sent their brass to meet with Gasol on Thursday, center Joakim Noah accompanied them to make their pitch.

Gasol is the backup plan for the Bulls should they pull a Charlie Brown and have the football taken away before they can kick it when it comes to Carmelo Anthony. He knows that he’s the backup plan but having Noah at the pitch likely helps out a lot and it doesn’t hurt that other teams with interest in Gasol are rolling out the star treatment either.

He was vastly under-appreciated in Los Angeles and teams know that, so the first thing they’re all doing is showing him they care about his status as a superstar and that will go a long way in making Gasol want to sign with your team.
