The battle to land the services to land one of the top free agents on the NBA market, Carmelo Anthony, is quickly coming to a close, and apparently the Los Angeles Lakers have his head spinning following their meeting this week.
On one of his last stops, Anthony headed out to Los Angeles where he met with the Lakers contingent, and according to Bill Simmons, he’s hearing that the meeting really did a number on his decision making, which could ultimately end up seeing him land playing next to Kobe Bryant.
Hearing the Lakers made a MAJOR impact on Melo this week - it's now a legit 3-way battle between LA/Chi/NYK to land him. Crazy NBA weekend.

Kobe himself tried to make the meeting by cutting his European vacation short, but when it was pushed up, he wasn’t able to get back to the west coast of the United States in time, leaving the Lakers brass on their own to persuade the star to leave New York, as well as spurn some other lucrative offers.

Not long after Anthony left the meeting, it was revealed that the team was prepared to offer him a max contract, which made moving out west that much sweeter of a thought.
Anthony’s recruitment throughout this whole process has been back and forth, with the latest being this news of the impact that the Lakers made on him during their time together.
Whatever the case may be, we’ll know very soon just how big this impact was.
