The Arizona Cardinals had a 10-win season and still finished third in their division and missed out on the playoffs. Unfortunately for the Cardinals they play in arguably the toughest division in all of football with the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers, who won the NFC Championship the year prior to the Seahawks’ run.

Winning the division isn’t easy, but it is what the Arizona Cardinals are focusing on according to wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
“We always talk about winning the NFC West,” Fitzgerald told Ed Werder on ESPN, via Pro Football Talk. “That’s our goal first and foremost, getting to the playoffs. We did a good job after the bye week, finishing 6-2. Obviously it wasn’t good enough to get us into the tournament but we finished strong and were able to execute more efficiently down the stretch.”
Fitzgerald also clarified that these aren’t shots at the other teams in the division.
“We understand and respect those teams,” Fitzgerald said. “They’re very talented and they’ve been to the playoffs for the last couple years. But we’re very confident in our abilities. We match up very well with those teams and St. Louis as well. We’re confident in our ability to play at a high level against the best teams in the league.”
