The Phoenix Suns shocked a lot of people this past season when they went from being a sure-fire lottery team to a a squad that finished just a few games short of a postseason berth as they were fighting for the No. 8 seed up until the very end of the regular season.

But not everyone who helped get the team to the position they’re in will be back next year as tough decisions are having to be made by the front office. Restricted free agent P.J. Tucker is one of those players and there has been increasing talk about a possible sign-and-trade involving the Suns forward.

“Some teams have inquired about the possibility of a sign and trade for Suns restricted free agent swingman PJ Tucker, the source said,” according to Yahoo! Sports insider Marc J. Spears.

Bringing back Tucker is something the Suns have wanted to do but they have to start thinking about their future and where their money will be going. Eric Bledsoe is a restricted free agent this year and the contract of Goran Dragic will need to be addressed and discussed in the near future as well. This is without mentioning that the Suns have other young players they want to re-sign as well as trying to go out and sign a big free agent this offseason.

It’s an exciting time in Phoenix but the Suns got to this point by spending responsibly and that’s what makes talks of a sign-and-trade with P.J. Tucker make a whole lot of sense.
