The New Orleans Pelicans are looking at ways they can improve for the future, as while the immediate future is important it’s not nearly as important as the long term goals the team has set for itself. One of the ways to get better is to add by subtracting and that means trading players away who are valuable but more so in a trade.

As bad as the Pelicans were last season, they still have assets that are valuable and one of those trade chips they have is forward Ryan Anderson.

According to NOLA.com, the Pelicans have heard from several teams who have interest in acquiring Ryan Anderson despite his neck injury that could have become career threatening had he not elected for surgery when he did.

"Several teams remain interested in acquiring forward Ryan Anderson in a trade, but the Pelicans are still reluctant to part ways with him, according to league sources."

Anderson is with Austin Rivers and Eric Gordon as players who may very well be traded before this next season can begin but there’s nothing certain about their futures one way or the other. The fact of the matter is, Anderson could fit well on this Pelicans roster that has been assembled, but he may end up being more valuable for what he can bring in via trade than for what he can provide on the court during the season.
