The New York Knicks pulled off a big trade before the NBA Draft that landed them bits and pieces but dumped the salary of Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton on the Dallas Mavericks.

Dumping fuel overboard is likely going to be a theme for the Knicks this summer as they’re planning on giving Carmelo Anthony a max contract and are looking at ways they can craft a winning team. Stripping the team of unwanted assets is the first order of business and after dealing Chandler it appears that Amare Stoudemire is on the list as well.

According to SNY.tv reporter Moke Hamilton, the Knicks are not only shopping Amare Stoudemire but they appear to be trying to move Andrea Bargnani in a trade as well.

"On the heels of a Monday morning account from ESPN that states the Knicks have engaged the Philadelphia 76ers on a salary-dumping Amar’e Stoudemire trade, a league front office source tells SNY.tv and TheKnicksBlog that the Knicks have also been shopping Andrea Bargnani. Jackson, according to the source, recently rebuffed a trade offer that would have seen Bargnani and Tim Hardaway Jr. sent out in a similar cap-clearing maneuver."

This is hardly a surprise as the Knicks will be trying to clear up as much space as they possibly can to not only make room for Carmelo Anthony’s max contract but also for a top tier free agent in the summer of 2015.
