Over the course of the past few days, Carmelo Anthony has visited a variety of teams hoping to sign the All-Star small forward. There have been stops in both Dallas and Houston as well as Chicago. In addition there was a quick stay in Southern California where the Los Angeles Lakers pitched their reasons as to why Carmelo Anthony should relocate to Hollywood.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

While the full details of the pitch haven’t been released, John Ireland did appear on ESPN’s Mason and Ireland radio show this morning where he broke down portions of the Lakers pitch to Carmelo Anthony.

Included was a fifteen minute speech from franchise legend Magic Johnson, explaining what it means to be the face of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise (I’m sure Kobe Bryant was thrilled with that). In addition, Ireland states that film producer Joel Silver (think Lethal Weapon, etc) created a four-minute trailer (narrated by Toby Maguire) which pitched the idea of Melo being the Lakers star.

As if that wasn’t enough, there was also an alleged offer from Time Warner Cable where they would accept a pitch from Carmelo Anthony for a prospective television show which could potentially air on their network.

Of course, Anthony’s wife, LaLa, already has a television show on VH1 so I’m not sure that’s overly inciting though they’d have more control over that in comparison to Viacom.

There was also likely a significant amount of basketball related talk in their pitch as well, though, certainly some intriguing topics for Carmelo Anthony to mull over.

Ireland begins speaking about the pitch at the 15 minute mark.
