NBA Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t contacted Ray Allen
By Sam Richmond
Among the many Cleveland Cavaliers rumors that are floating around these days is that the team is pursuing shooting guard Ray Allen in an attempt to attract LeBron James to sign with the Cavs.

However, according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, Cleveland has made no such contact with Allen.
"There have also been a couple of other misrepresentations as it pertains to Cleveland, one of which is that they have reached out to HEAT free agent Ray Allen about coming to Cleveland. Sources close to Allen said unless the contact was a private call from James himself, there has been no contact from Cleveland to Allen or his agents. Those sources did not rule Cleveland out as a possibility if Allen continues to play, only that the reported contact had not taken place."
As Kyler’s source notes, that doesn’t mean Allen-to-Cleveland won’t happen.
It’s not exactly a well kept secret that Ray wants to play for whichever team LeBron James is on next season.
If James heads back to Cleveland, which most seem to expect at this point, than it’s safe to assume that Allen will be playing in Ohio next year as well, whether the Cavs have contacted the sharp-shooter yet or not.
The 38-year-old averaged 9.6 points (37.5 percent shooting from outside) and 2.8 rebounds per game last season with Miami.
