His records continue to grow each successive year, and he is an early favorite to increase his MVP record next season. In 2009, Manning won his record fourth NFL MVP title. After being injured and sitting out for the entire 2011 season, Manning returned with a vengeance with his new team, the Denver Broncos.
In 2013, Manning increased his record when he won his fifth MVP for throwing 55 touchdowns and 5,477 yards. According to ProFootballTalk, the sportsbook Bovada currently has Manning as a 3-1 favorite to win the MVP again in 2014.
Manning has won the MVP title five times in the last ten years, so it makes sense that he would be the favorite to continue his unbelievable streak.
Among the others Bovada has listed odds for winning the MVP next season are, in order, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Andrew Luck. Johnny Manziel is also on the list as the only rookie, with 100-1 odds to win the NFL MVP.
While winning MVP’s is all fine and dandy, there is no question that Manning would trade his individual accolades for a team accomplishment like winning the Super Bowl. After getting shellacked last year against the Seattle Seahawks in the championship game, Manning and the Broncos have even more pressure to produce in the upcoming season.
