It’s as though all the feelings of every Mets fan everywhere suddenly were channeled through this one poor guy, like he was possessed by a demon made of the sadness and misery of all Mets fans, and it all came out in one sudden crazy seizure triggered by Freddie Freeman catching a pop foul.
What you’re seeing here isn’t a single human being losing his mind. What you’re seeing is a reflection of the current mental state of an entire fanbase.
When someone asks you what it’s like to be a Mets fan, just show them this GIF. It expresses more eloquently than anything else the feeling of being a fan of a team that despite having all the resources in the world at its disposal simply can’t put anything together resembling a competitive roster.
This is what consistent mediocrity does to the human soul. It is truly horrifying. I hope you are proud of yourselves, Mets. You are driving your fans bonkers.
