The Chicago Bulls were the first team Carmelo Anthony visited when free agency opened. Anthony still hasn’t decided nearly mid-way through July, and the Bulls haven’t been told they’re out of contention for the superstar according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.

Most reports have Anthony considering re-signing with the New York Knicks, and while the Bulls aren’t necessarily out of the race they seem to be focused on Los Angeles Lakers power forward Pau Gasol.

There was a report that a deal between Gasol and the Bulls was “practically complete.

As far as Anthony goes, the rumors are far and wide ranging. There are reports that he is torn between the Bulls and Knicks, then there are reports that the Los Angeles Lakers are still contenders to sign Anthony.

The smart move on is to move on and sign players before they get signed elsewhere, but ultimately if Anthony decides on Chicago but signing Gasol makes that not possible they might have a bit  of regret.
