It was a very long night for a group of Cardinals rookie league players. The guys from Johnson City were on the bus waiting to go home after being beaten by Greeneville when their bus driver, apparently annoyed that some of the guys were taking too long getting on the bus, grabbed the keys and left.

Twitter accounts for Johnson City players lit up with harrowing tales of being stranded on the bus in the wee hours of the morning with no driver, no keys and hope of rescue.

Over the course of the ordeal, a #PrayforJC hashtag sprang up.

The team’s official Twitter got in on the act.

Thankfully, the whole horrible experience had a happy resolution. Another driver showed up just as the players were about to resort to cannibalism.

Crazy. This exact thing happened to Louis CK. He hired limos to take everyone home. Minor leaguers don’t have that kind of scratch, so they have to wait it out. I’m glad no one was lit on fire as part of a hilarious baseball prank gone wrong. Those things go wrong so easily.
