It was one of the two Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalries on tonight’s card, so you knew it was going to be a show.

Vargas would look to keep his undefeated record intact, while JuanMa was hoping to show he still had plenty left in the tank with a potential title shot in store for the winner of the bout.

During the pre-fight show, Tomoki Kameda delivered a brutal body shot KO to retain his WBO bantamweight title, so the tone was set for a great night of fights.

Juan Manuel Lopez and Vargas were hoping to keep the momentum going.

It was a patient start to the fight for both men, but Vargas was finding a home with his strikes to the body while avoiding the big right hook of JuanMa.

Vargas started off the second round with a huge left hook that rocked Lopez. Vargas reacted cautiously and did not rush in after a wobbled Lopez in a sign of respect for the Puerto Rican’s punching power.

With JuanMa’s back against the ropes, Vargas opened up a vicious flurry of punches as a wild exchange began in Round 3. Vargas was able to drop JuanMa at the end of the round as he continued to get the better of the incredible exchanges that had the crowd on their feet.

In between the third and fourth round, the fight was stopped and Vargas was given the TKO win to advance his record to 20-0-1.
