The Atlanta Hawks were looking like they were sitting pretty when it came to landing Luol Deng in free agency, but a wild week of signings has shifted the landscape and it now appears that Atlanta’s bubble has burst.

More from Atlanta Hawks

LeBron James choosing to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers is a move that has shifted the landscape for free agents and it’s the very reason why guys like Deng refused to agree to a deal too early.

According to Sam Amick from USA Today, the Atlanta Hawks and Luol Deng are just too far apart on price and a deal will not be happening unless someone buckles and changes their demands.

This is a real bummer for Hawks fans as it was looking like htey might be in the driver’s seat to land Deng this summer. But it now appears as though the Miami Heat have moved into the lead to acquire Deng as they have more money and the desire to sign him.

Atlanta isn’t out of the running completely but it’s looking like they’ll need more than what they’re offering if they want to snag him off the open market.
