The Golden State Warriors are trying to acquire Kevin Love but the cost of the trade that hasn’t even been made yet is already taking a toll on the players who are rumored to be involved.

Klay Thompson and David Lee have been mentioned in just about every variation of a trade for Love and it’s something that head coach Steve Kerr is trying to stay on top of in the locker room and behind the scenes.

According to Diamond Leung of The Bay Area News Group, Kerr is trying to calm the waters in Oakland as trade rumors continue to be kicked up involving David Lee and Klay Thompson.

"“They both get it. I told them, I know you get it. It doesn’t make it any easier. But this is why you really get paid. I mean, you get paid all this money, is it really for coming into a gym for two hours a day and shooting jump shots? We’ve been doing that for free our whole life, you know? You get paid because you can get traded, and you have to uproot your family. You can get hurt, you can get booed, and people on the message board are crushing you. That’s where you actually earn your money in this league, where it actually feels like work.”"

It seems like a strange thing to say, but Kerr is right on in his assessment of the situation. The bottom line is that trade rumors happen all the time in all sports, and until something is official, it’s just a rumor. That’s something that can waver a player’s focus though, which is something first-year head coach Kerr doesn’t want to have happen to any of his player during his first year on the job.
