The Mariners’ Kyle Seager takes off for second but suffers a bit of bad luck when a line shot off the bat of Logan Morrison strikes him flush in the buttock.

More from MLB

The ball caroms away and Morrison is safe at first. Seager is out because he got hit by a batted ball while running the bases. And he has a giant welt on his ass for his trouble.

I am certain Seager didn’t get any grief from his teammates after that one. Baseball players would never exploit a situation like that for jokes or pranks or friendly ribbing. Baseball players are well-known for showing restraint in situations where a man has, by no fault of his own, suffered a misfortune that opens him up to potential teasing.

Baseball players know there is no room for teasing in the professional locker room. The atmosphere must be at all times 100% serious and solemn.

No I’m kidding. You know Seager got totally lit up. There was probably a rump roast waiting for him in the locker after the game with a baseball drawn on it in magic marker. Or something equally witty.
