It seems as though Rajon Rondo is doomed to spend an eternity in NBA Trade Rumors, as he always seems to be attached to them no matter where he tries to hide. Either he’s being mentioned because the Big 3 are breaking up in Boston, or the team wants to rebuild or he’s in a contract year — it’s always something.

More from Boston Celtics

Thanks to the Houston Rockets having an abundance of cash to spend on the open market, there are now renewed rumors that Rondo could get traded there and eat up cap space while giving Boston decent return on him.

According to NBA scribe Chuck Myron, the Houston Rockets pursuing Rajon Rondo is very realistic and could heat up but the possibility of him being traded isn’t as high as it may seem.

"It’s reasonable to suspect that you might, and the Rockets preserved a lot of flexibility when they passed on Chandler Parsons (or at least that’s how Daryl Morey is selling the Rockets fans on his blunder). I think Ainge is still determined to see if he can get Love, and Rondo doesn’t seem to anxious to leave Boston. So I’d say you shouldn’t plan on changing your wardrobe from green to red anytime soon, Rajon."

Rondo fitting in with James Hardn and Dwight Howard would be an amazing fit and it’s something that Houston has kicked the tires on before. Adding in Kevin Love to that situation is even better but there’s such a thing called a pipe dream and this might be rather close to that from the Rockets end of things.
