Answering fan questions on Twitter recently, Dion Waiters was asked about his role for the upcoming season. Likely expecting a thrilling response given the addition of LeBron James, the fan was presumably taken back when Waiters suggested that he didn’t want to come off the bench.
Simply asked if he would be okay coming off the bench, the young guard gave the following answer.
It’s not known if Dion Waiters will be needed in the Cleveland Cavaliers starting lineup or as a reserve, though clearly he has an idea of how he should be used and it’s not off the pine.
Why he’s so opposed to an idea is unknown, though it’s likely an ego thing considering some sixth men average more time than starters.
There’s not much likely to come from Waiters’ opposition to the idea initially, though it might be something fans of the organization want to keep an eye on.
One would figure that Andrew Wiggins, with LeBron James starting at small forward, would take the Cleveland Cavaliers starting shooting guard spot leaving Waiters as the odd man out of the rotation. It’s been rumored that the Cavaliers are exploring trade options for Waiters, though there’s been no official confirmation from the organization.
