The Dallas Mavericks are one of the lucky franchises in sports history to have had not only a franchise player to show off to the wold but one who is loyal to the team through thick and thin. That’s what Dirk Nowitzki has been for the Mavericks his whole career and that loyalty and his team-first attitude is something that has remained constant to this day.

More from Dallas Mavericks

According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com, Dirk not only took a team-friendly contract to begin with for the Mavs, he reduced his pay even further after the team agreed to an offer sheet with Chandler Parsons this past weekend.

This isn’t a surprise to Mavericks fans as Dirk has always been a team player first and thinks about himself second, which his very evident in his paycut to allow Dallas to sign Parsons.

It’s not often these days that you find a player like Dirk Nowitzki who is willing to take less to help the team out but the Mavericks are more than happy to have him.
