The Los Angeles Lakers are not having that great of a time playing basketball because the team isn’t particularly good at the moment. But the future seems to be bright, at least, and that’s why finding a head coach is something the team plans on doing soon.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Byron Scott seems to be the favorite to land the job right now but he’s passed on the job so far to wait until the roster fills out. If this wasn’t Scott’s idea then the Lakers are aware they need work still and are holding off on offering Scott a contract until they’ve put together a roster they know he will want to coach.

Not hiring Scott now makes sense as the Lakers have gone this long without finding anyone to fill the position so why rush into anything? They’ll eventually find the right time to hire Scott but right now apparently isn’t right — but the moment indeed feels like it’s close.
