Via Priority Sports agency through Marc Stein, free agent point guard Jannero Pargo has signed a contract to return to the Charlotte Hornets (of course when he originally signed his deal they were the Bobcats…but never mind that).

More from Charlotte Hornets

The 31-year-old Pargo averaged 4.7 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 8.3 minutes per game last year for Charlotte. He began the season on a pair of 10-day contracts before being signed through the rest of the year.

Pargo figures to settle back into a backup PG role in Charlotte behind Kemba Walker. He gives them a steady veteran second-teamer who can occasionally fill it up, but only occasionally.

The Hornets had been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Kirk Hinrich but he has since returned to the Bulls.

The Hornets’ big free agency move came when they signed Lance Stephenson to a three-year, $27 million deal. They also signed Marvin Williams away from the Utah Jazz for 2 years and $14 million.

I guess Michael Jordan doesn’t want to wait around for young guys to develop. MJ wants his championship cigar now, not in the future. Unfortunately for the improving Hornets, LeBron James still resides in the Eastern conference.

But at least they brought back Jannero Pargo. So they’re ready to challenge.
