The minor league Charleston RiverDogs promised to bring back the spirit of the notorious Disco Demolition night by blowing up a bunch of Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus-related merchandise after a game. Sure enough, they went through with it.

More from MLB

A fake boombox was filled with Bieber and Miley gear, set up on the infield and then blown up. Kind of. I mean yes, there is sort of an explosion with confetti for extra dazzle, and then smoke issues from the box.

But it’s not like the box is obliterated or anything. Far from it. I have to imagine that most of the items in the box survived being “demolished” without even getting scorched.

I don’t want to accuse the RiverDogs of skimping but, if you say you’re going to demolish stuff, don’t you have to demolish it? Like, blow it to smithereens?

I know they don’t want to mess up their infield. So, have the demolition in the parking lot. Get some dynamite, stick it in the box and blow that thing up.

This symbolic demolition isn’t very impressive. But whatever. I guess Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus got the message. The Charleston RiverDogs don’t like you guys. So you’ll stop making music now, right?
