The MLB trade deadline is right around the corner and that means we’re going to be hearing the rumor mille pump out more and more rumors as the week continues and the deadline nears. The end of July is always a huge time of the year for baseball transactions and there is usually always one name stirring the pot.

More from MLB Trade Rumors

This year, that name is Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price and there seems to be a growing number of teams interested in trying to at least kick the tires on landing him.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com in his latest video, the Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Indians are the two teams who have been most recently active reams in trying to acquire David Price and it’s the Mariners who seem to be the front runners to land Price at some point before the deadline passes.

Seattle has long made sense as a landing spot for Price and there were discussions of a trade as far back as the winter and spring months of the season. Seattle has the best package to offer and Rosenthal points out that it’s the Mariners that the Rays seem most willing to deal with thanks to the package they can send back to Tampa Bay.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that a deal will for sure be made with the Mariners but it appears that there is a growing chance that Seattle is more than just a frontrunner in the race to land David Price, they’re looking like the only team with a chance.
