The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Toby Gerhart as a potential replacement for Maurice Jones-Drew, and he is apparently making a great impression before the start of training camp.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars

During a recent Q&A, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley raved about Gerhart’s ability.

From Gerhart’s football IQ to competitiveness, Bradley had nothing but positive comments about his potential feature back.

Then there was Gerhart’s speed.

Gerhart is not exactly known for how fast he can move, but Bradley says Gerhart is faster than the team had known.

“His work ethic, his knowledge of the game, his ability to fit in with our team, his competitiveness — he checks all those boxes,” Bradley said, according to the Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. “The one thing we saw during the OTAs was that his speed — he’s even faster than we gave him credit for.”

If Gerhart proves to be a quality rusher in Jacksonville, it will be a great help to rookie quarterback Blake Bortles.

Jacksonville is a team that is retooling their roster and making positive strides, and Gerhart could be another key piece of the team’s rebuilding puzzle.
