New York Knicks rumors: Knicks to be players in 2015 free agency
The New York Knicks tried to create cap spaceto pair another superstar with forward Carmelo Anthony, fearing he may leave in free agency. The Knicks were not able to dump big men Amar’e Stoudemire or Andrea Bargnani, but they were able to re-sign Anthony and will see both Stoudemire and Bargnani come off of the books in 2015.

Like most, Jabari Davis of Basketball Insiders believes the Knicks are looking to be players in free agency next year when Portland Trail Blazers’ power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love and Memphis Grizzlies’ center Marc Gasol can all become free agents.
"I honestly think the Knicks will be fine, as I cannot see Phil continuing their history of “Dolan-ing” out ridiculous contracts simply because they can. He’ll at least try to build a compatible roster and one that will actually accentuate what Melo can bring to the table. Once they get Amare’e and Bargs off the books, they’ll have some room to do some damage on the FA market, and will already be 18 months into changing the overall culture and basketball mindset of the franchise. I think, barring any craziness from above, PJax will turn the Knicks around by the time we head into the 2016-17 season..and possibly even a bit before that point depending upon how successful they are over the next 12 months."
Aldridge looked like a legitimate MVP candidate last season, averaging 23.2 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 45.8% from the floor, 20.0% from three and 82.2% from the charity stripe. Love averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 45.7% from the field, 37.6% from three and 82.1% from the charity stripe. Gasol went for 14.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 47.3% from the field, 18.2% from beyond the arc and 76.8% from the free throw line in 59 games.
