The NBA offseason is still in full swing but there are some players who aren’t looking at switching teams or settling in with new ones, rather they’re thinking about what life without basketball will be like,

More from Los Angeles Lakers

There were players that switched teams in free agency like Luol Deng and LeBron James who you know are nearing the final stage of their careers but for Kobe Bryant, that final stage arrived a while ago and it seems to almost be up.

According to ESPN Los Angeles, Bryant was forced to look at his life without basketball following his season ending knee injury last season and as a result he has come to the realization that the idea of a basketball afterlife scares him.

"The unexpected time off last season forced Bryant to think about his post-basketball future.“I’m afraid, too,” he said Friday at the summer TV critics’ meeting. “You really have to lean on muses and mentors going forward, just as I did as a kid. It’s about having that next wave of things, which is scary as hell, but it’s fun at the same time.”"

This is yet another honest moment from Kobe who is coming to the realization that his basketball career is about to be over, despite the fact that is sounds like he’s going to be playing well into the future. Kobe is giving off Brett Favre vibes in that interview as he knows he needs to quit at some point, he just has no idea when he’ll be ready to.
