The Los Angeles Lakers are hoping to rebound in a big way after a deplorable 2013 NBA season that saw the team break the record for the most losses in their franchise’s history. Without Kobe Bryant for much of the season, the Lakers ended up with a 27–55 record, missed the playoffs, and finished with the sixth worst record in the league.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Attempting to turn it around this season will be difficult for the team, but a new beginning starts with shedding away the old. Today, the Lakers did just that when the unveiled their new “Hollywood Knights” jerseys.

The jersey indicates the number of championships (16) the Lakers have had in their historic franchise’s career. Maybe the number will help motivate the Lakers’ players to attain the 17th franchise title.

Last year the Lakers played with the “Hollywood Nights” jerseys six times, but those were sleeveless renditions of the uniform. At this point, there is no indication as to how many times the Lakers will wear the alternate uniform next year, but you can probably expect somewhere around six games.

Now the question becomes whether or not the new jersey will inject some life into the team. As the NBA offseason winds down and the team begins building towards next season, we will soon have our answer as to whether or not the team has moved on from last year’s horrendous outing.
