The MLB Trade Deadline is just around the corner which means names like David Price, Josh Willingham and Jake Peavy are going to start coming up more and more as the deadline gets closer and closer.

More from MLB Trade Rumors

One name that has been tossed out more than a few times is Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels, as he’s being seen as a prize to go after if you’re out of the David Price sweepstakes. This is all well and good for teams in pursuit of Hamels but the Phillies have other ideas about his availability — as in, he’s not available at all.

The Phillies are expected to be deep in trade talks with teams over the course of the next week, but Hamels won’t be the pitcher they’re willing to discuss. Cliff Lee is the starter that Philadelphia wants to deal and assets like Marlon Byrd and other veterans are for sale along with a bundle of cash to anyone who wants to try and make a deal happen.

Hamels, though, won’t be among those assets the Phillies are willing to give up unless they get a deal they’d be crazy to refuse.
