The Boston Celtics were at one point in the discussion to land Kevin Love in a trade before the draft but they ultimately ended up fading away from the conversation and haven’t been heard from much since then.

More from Boston Celtics

That could all change though as the bigger the trade talks between the Cavaliers and Timberwolves get for Love, the more likely it’s looking that a third team will be involved — which could be the Celtics.

According to Sean Deveney of The Sporting News, the Boston Celtics are a wild card team that could get involved with the Kevin Love trade talks but not as the team that would be acquiring Love.

"Boston, another source said, would like to acquire Love, but would be willing to include some part of its trove of draft picks if they would help bring in a player who can contribute immediately."

Earlier int he day it was reported by Chris Sheridan from Sheridan Hoops that the Celtics and Warriors were still involved in the Kevin Love trade talks, which combined with Deveney’s report that both the Dubs or Celtics could be third teams in a deal makes a lot of things start to make sense.

Of course, there’s no saying that any of this makes a trade happen but it definitely adds a component that leads one to believe a deal could be done soon.
