A lot of Seattle Seahawks fans were happy this offseason when the team was able to go out and re-sign wide receiver Sidney Rice. But now, that happiness will prove to be short-lived as the announcement has come through on Wednesday via Pro Football Talk that Rice has decided to hang up the cleats for good at just the age of 27.
Rice cited a history of concussions as his reasoning for leaving the game so early, and on twitter after the announcement, you could see the emotional reactions from the fans across the country.
Smart, like @RussellAllen50 "@ProFootballTalk Per source, Sidney Rice's decision to retire arises from a history of concussions."

If true, sad that my man @sidneyrice is retiring. One of my favs and a great guy. Know he's still got a lot of great things ahead of him.

Of course, Rice was one of the most respected players in the game, as you can see, and he will be sorely missed. But ultimately, this is the best decision he could have made.
