Jadeveon Clowney was the No. 1 overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL draft. Once his name was announced by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Clowney walked from the green room to the podium where he met Goodell for a photo-op in what has become an NFL draft custom.

Apparently, Clowney does not remember that day very well, or at least does not remember the NFL commissioner very well. In a recent interview with Bleacher Report’s Adam Lefkoe, Clowney and Lefkoe played a game in which they had to guess the name of a certain athlete or pop culture figure on a card held up to their foreheads.

One of Clowney’s cards was none other than NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Lefkoe’s clue was quite clever as he noted that “He’s going to fine you when you hit Andrew Luck too hard.”

Clowney was stumped, as he could not remember Goodell’s name:

"Is it the guy over the league? What is his name? I can’t even think of his name."

Not shockingly Clowney was able to name the likes of LeBron James and Tiger Woods, but he could not even name the NFL’s commissioner. Later on in the game, Clowney noted that he had no idea who Bill Belichick was either.

We understand Clowney is studying the playbook diligently, but shouldn’t it be common knowledge to know who is looking over your shoulders from the NFL’s head offices? You know, the guy that can suspend or fine you? How about one of the all-time greatest coaches in NFL history?

At the end of the day, everyone makes mistakes, so let’s not get too hard on Clowney. Let’s just see if he remembers Goodell’s name after they meet once again.
