Bill Belichick says the Patriots ‘revolve around’ Jerod Mayo
If you ask nearly any NFL pundit or fan who the faces of the New England Patriots franchise are, you will likely get a mix of answers ranging from quarterback Tom Brady, to head coach Bill Belichick, to owner Robert Kraft. What you likely won’t hear is the name of Jerod Mayo, unless of course you are asking the head coach himself.
After an early training camp practice this morning, Bill Belichick spoke to the media and had some high praise for the former top 10 pick.
Those are some powerful words coming from Belichick when you consider that the Patriots employ one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the sport. Not to mention that Tom Brady has aided the team in being perennial contenders as well as winning three Super Bowls.

Mayo apparently is one of the major leaders on the Patriots team, and his play on the field is likely the reason for that.
In 2008, Mayo won the AP NFL defensive rookie of the year. Since then, he has continued to improve into one of the best linebackers in the league. His 2013 season was cut short when he tore his pectoral muscle during the Patriots sensational comeback victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Expect a big year from Mayo coming off of his injury, boosted by the confidence given to him by his head coach.
