Based on his name being basically non-existent in free agent rumors this summer, it would be fair for one to speculate that the market is cool on free agent forward Michael Beasley.

More from Miami Heat

However,  Beasley’s agent told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that isn’t the case and that Beasley’s former squad, the Miami Heat, are among the multiple teams talking to the Kansas State product.

"Jared Karnes, Beasley’s agent, said Thursday he has had more than one conversation with the Heat but “nothing has resulted in a deal. [Other] teams have called expressing interest. There has been quite a bit of activity the past four days. Teams are encouraged by his career-best field-goal percentage (49.9) … and his attitude when asked to play a reduced role.”"

Beasley’s second stint with the Heat this past season can be looked at as both a success and a failure. It was a success because Beasley stayed out of trouble and, as Jackson notes, kept a positive attitude despite having a small role. It was a failure because, though he had his moments, Beasley was unable to maintain the trust of coach Erik Spoelstra and was a bench-warmer for much of the postseason.

Still, Beasley is just 25 and showed flashes with the Heat. He averaged 7.9 points (49.9 percent shooting from the floor and 38.9 percent from beyond the arc) and 3.1 rebounds per game.

It might not be with the Heat, but Beasley will get another shot to make his mark in the NBA with somebody next season, due to his youth and and offensive potential.
