Many believed that Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones would not be able to resist the urge to select Manziel, but common sense ultimately prevailed and the Cowboys went with a safe pick of Notre Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin.
Despite passing on Manziel, Jones thinks back on that moment every day.
When speaking to the media during Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California, Jones commented on his decision to pass on Manziel.
It was a decision that Jones described as a tough decision he will think about for the rest of his career.
As long as Manziel doesn’t end up being a perennial Pro Bowler and someone who leads the Browns to multiple Super Bowls, then Jones should be able to live with the decision that he made.
