One team that could take on Kemp this summer is the Boston Red Sox, who are looking to make trades but ones that are beneficial to what they’re trying to build in the future. That may or may not involve acquiring Matt Kemp but if they go that route then Ken Rosenthal reports something in addition to Kemp would need to come back to Boston as well to make the trade valuable to the Red Sox.
A Kemp-to-Red Sox trade is something that has been rumored for a long time and this isn’t the first trade deadline to have approached where such a deal was being talked about. How serious the talks are is yet to be determined but the bottom line is that the Red Sox might end up taking Kemp on if they can get most of his salary to stay behind in Los Angeles in one way or another.
