A few days ago there were rumors suggesting that Nikola Mirotic could be a key piece in a trade that would send Kevin Love to the Chicago Bulls, though things have quieted down on that front.

More from Chicago Bulls

The idea of the Chicago Bulls acquiring Kevin Love isn’t all that outlandish, though it seems odd that the Bulls would be offering up Mirotic considering he has put so much trust in the franchise over the past few years. Given that, the forward is open to any role with Chicago this season, be it as a starter or off the bench.

"“I’m ready to accept my role on the team. In Madrid I’m always starter. For sure this is different. This is NBA. I don’t care if I start or don’t start. I have to do my job and I play, so that’s it.”"

With both Taj Gibson and Pau Gasol on the roster, the chance of Mirotic being named a starter is non-existent so he better be happy to be coming off the bench. In fact, it’s questionable as to how much time Mirotic will actually get in his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls considering their depth and the fact that they’ll be contending for the Eastern Conference crown.

If Nikola Mirotic can prove himself on the defensive end, he’ll certainly get a few more looks and could carve out a role in the rotation but there isn’t a ton of minutes for him regardless.

Still, limited role or not, Mirotic should prove to be a worthwhile addition to the Chicago Bulls for a long time (assuming he’s not traded, of course).
