The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Despite that they’ll have Chad Henne under center come the first week of the season.

The Jaguars know the kind of veteran leadership Henne brings to the table and are easing up on the reigns and giving him a green light to take more command off the offense, calling audibles when and as often as he wants to.

From the Florida Times Union:

"Veteran quarterback Chad Henne said Sunday he has the green light from offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch to audible as much as he wants to."

Being named the starter in training camp and not being thrust into a quarterback competition or controversy has allowed Henne to be a leader.

“I think leadership is a quality that I present to the coaching staff and this organization,” Henne said. “If I can guide these guys around and help them out, it’ll just accelerate their play on the field. That’s my job to do. If I fail at it, that’s my own fault.’’
