The Toronto Blue Jays are watching the trade deadline approach with a little anxiety, but they’re not looking to rush into anything, which has been made abundantly clear by their involvement in rumors but their inaction on anything real.

More from Chicago White Sox

One name that popped up on Monday afternoon for the Blue Jays was second baseman Darwin Barney, who was traded from the Chicago Cubs to the Los Angeles Dodgers for literal pennies on the dollar.

After missing on Barney, Bruce Levine reports that the Jays have at least kicked the tires on a trade for struggling Chicago White Sox star Gordon Beckham.

Beckham remains an interesting option for not only the Blue Jays but for teams like the Yankees and Orioles as well, who may or may not have inquired about him in the not too distant past.

Either way, the value of Darwin Barney was a bit underrated by some as the trade market suddenly heated up for him on Monday afternoon before he was dealt tot he Dodgers. Toronto isn’t going to rush into any trades though, as the team has been looking at options but so far hasn’t pulled the trigger on even deals the the Barney trade that could have been cheap and possible.
