Jon Lester rumors: Cardinals, Pirates, Dodgers, Mariners named as suitors

As tomorrow’s MLB trade deadline rapidly approaches, there is plenty of speculation swirling surrounding the future of Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Jon Lester.

A handful of teams like the Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles and Milwaukee Brewers seem to be falling out of the mix for Lester, but there are plenty of other potential suitors who have been named.

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, a National League general manager believes the left-handed ace has four teams that make sense.

Those teams mentioned were the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners and Pittsburgh Pirates.

On Tuesday, the Red Sox announced that Lester was scratched from tonight’s scheduled start against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. It appears to be a clear sign that the team is looking to move the left-handed pitcher.

Whether or not a deal takes place before tomorrow’s deadline remains to be seen, but there are plenty of suitors who would be happy to welcome Lester to town.
