A handful of starting pitchers are linked to MLB trade rumors as we lead up to the MLB trade deadline this afternoon, and one of those pitchers is New York Mets starter Bartolo Colon.

More from Baltimore Orioles

According to reports, one of the teams interested in the Mets right-handed pitcher is the Baltimore Orioles.

The news comes from CBS Sports.

Whether or not Colon is dealt within the next few hours will ultimately come down to the New York Mets’ willingness to pull the trigger on a deal.

Jon Heyman states that the Mets are not sure if they want to trade him.

There is also Colon’s $11 million salary next season, but if he can continue playing at a high level he would certainly be worth a trade for the Orioles.

We will have to stay tuned to the news over the next few hours, but after the Boston Red Sox-Oakland Athletics deal that sent Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes to the West Coast for Yoenis Cespedes, anything is possible.
