The Seattle Mariners were hot trade talkers earlier in the month but after a 24 hour period filled with trade activity, the Mariners have been nowhere to be found in terms of making deals.

More from MLB Trade Rumors

Seattle hasn’t been quiet on the trade market this far but they’ve just struck out left and right and it appears their pursuit of Alex Rios from the Texas Rangers will end fruitlessly as well.

According to Ken Rosenthal from FOXSports.com, the Rangers have been listening to the efforts of the Mariners t acquire Rios but have better deals their closer to completing elsewhere in the league.

It’s unclear who these other teams will be but the Mariner won’t be among the finalists to land Rios. Not only does it sound like they’re offering too little too late, but the Rangers trading within the division when they apparently have deals elsewhere doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
