In the game between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets on Saturday night in New York, there appeared to be something magical on the horizon. Entering the seventh inning, both starting pitchers, Jake Peavy and Jacob deGrom, had no hitters going.

Well, deGrom’s bid was quickly broken up.

With two out in the top of the seventh inning, his respective bid for history was broken up by this Pablo Sandoval hit, leaving Peavy as the only pitcher in the game with a no-hitter going.

Still, although deGrom wasn’t able to finish it off, it’s been entertaining to watch two pitchers  go at it like this, to the level where no one on either side had gotten a hit that far into the game.

But all good things must come to an end, and for deGrom, that end came in the seventh inning on this hit by Sandoval.

Now all eyes will be on whether or not Peavy can finish off his quest for history.
