Movie star Jeff Bridges got two first pitches Friday night at Dodger Stadium. The first one he bowled up to the plate, in honor of his character The Dude from Big Lebowski. Was it a strike? I don’t know. Invisible pins.

For some reason this bit of homage ticked off Brian Wilson who yelled loudly at the Academy Award winner. Bridges, afraid Wilson might eat his face off like a bath salts cannibal, made a second first pitch, this one of the traditional through-the-air variety.
The second first pitch was definitely not a strike. It sailed high. The Dude should stick to bowling, baseball ain’t his sport.
Bridges was very pleased with both of his first pitches, and celebrated like a grizzled cave man. It occurs to me that Bridges should have done a third first pitch which he fired up there like one of those laser discus deals from Tron.
Maybe Jeff didn’t feel that Tron was worthy of a first pitch homage. Maybe he has a point. Tron did sort of suck. Plus I don’t know if you can accurately throw a baseball Tron-laser-discus style. I’ve never tried it myself.
