When it comes to on-court game, few are more knowledgeable than Magic Johnson. One of the greatest to ever set foot on the hardwood, the Los Angeles Lakers legend is easily one of the elite to ever play in the league.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

However when it comes to understanding the game from afar, Magic Johnson has proven himself to be less than stellar. He wasn’t much of a coach and in terms of being an analyst, Magic has left plenty to be desired. Still, the former point guard says he knows talent when he sees it and believes that the Los Angeles Lakers will be a better team this season – not because of Kobe Bryant’s return or the addition of Julius Randle – but because they won’t shoot so many three-point shots.

“The team is better than what we had last season, because we have more guys who can do more things than just shoot three-pointers.”

While the Lakers did make some small additions (along with the Jeremy Lin trade), they’re returning the vast majority of the same roster, so I’m not sure where Magic thinks the team added guys who can do more than just shoot from behind the arc.

Assuming all parties remain healthy (namely Kobe Bryant), the Los Angeles Lakers are going to be a better team by default. So Magic Johnson does have a valid point there, though, barring a miracle they’re still going to be one of the worst teams in the tough Western Conference until they can add additional talent.
